These vegan Halloween dirt cups are to die for - no pun intended! With this, you get a rich pudding, layered with Oreo crumbles, and topped with some vegan candy. Also, did I mention that this is a no-bake recipe? Such a simple recipe that literally takes no time at all. Another thing that’s perfect is that you can get creative with these and it's fun for the kids and for chocolate-loving adults – like myself!
So, I’m going to be real with you. My family wasn’t the type to celebrate or get into the spirit of Halloween. Yes, they took me out trick-or-treating, and yes, I experienced some fun Halloween parties at school, but that was the gist of it. As I grew older, I found a love of the spooky spirit! I loved creating fun make-up looks, shooting some fun Halloween portrait photos, and just decorating my home with all-things spooky! Now, I’ve expanded my creativity towards my food – like these vegan Halloween dirt cups! There’s not much else to say about these, they are too good for words, so you just must try it out for yourself! Make these for your friends, family, or for an upcoming Halloween party!
What you'll need to make vegan Halloween dirt cups:
- Coconut milk
- Soy milk
- Cocoa powder
- Cornstarch
- Sugar
- Chocolate chips
- Vanilla
- Salt
- Oreos
- Vegan Candy
Top tips for making vegan Halloween dirt cups:
- Make the pudding the night before. Because the pudding requires you to cook, it'll need time to cool and set. So I highly suggest doing this the night before!
- Separate the cream from the Oreos. To get a nice “dirt” consistency, I suggest removing the cream from the cookie. You can save the cream for later, perhaps a frosting for an upcoming cake!
- Use your favorite vegan candy! For these, I made vegan white chocolate gravestones, which I melted and poured into a mold, and I used vegan gummy worms! But be creative and use whatever you like!

📖 Recipe
Vegan Halloween Dirt Cups
Equipment
- Medium saucepan
- Whisk
- Fine mesh sieve
- Mixing bowl
- Bowl cover
- Food processer
- Serving cups
Ingredients
Pudding
- 360 grams Soymilk (unflavored)
- 360 grams Full-fat coconut milk
- 15 grams Natural cocoa powder
- 32 grams Cornstarch
- 100 grams Granulated sugar
- 140 grams Semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- 1 pack Oreos (family size)
Toppings
- 1-2 packs Vegan gummy worms (I got mine from Sprouts)
- Vegan white chocolate (optional, see notes)
Instructions
Pudding (Do this the night before or early morning)
- In a cold saucepan, combine the soy milk, coconut milk, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and sugar. Place the saucepan over medium heat and allow it to bubble, stirring regularly. Cook for about 2 minutes, while you continue to stir. You’ll feel it start to thicken.
- Remove the pudding from the heat, and stir in the chocolate chips, vanilla, and salt. Whisk until smooth. Run the pudding through a sieve and into a mixing bowl, this is to make sure there are no lumps.
- Gently place a plastic wrap over the surface of the pudding. This is to prevent a skin from forming on the top. Allow the pudding to cool to room temp, and place it in the fridge to set.
White Chocolate Gravestones (Optional):
- In a microwaveable safe bowl, melt the vegan white chocolate chips in the microwave it in 30 second increments. Stirring in between with a heatproof silicone spatula. Continue to microwave the chocolate until you get half melted chocolate and half solid chips. Stop there, and with continue to mix the chocolate all together until all the solid chocolate has melted.
- Fill up the gravestone mold with the melted white chocoalate. Tap the mold on the kitchen counter to gently to release any air bubbles. Allow the chocolate set in the fridge for 15-20 minutes.
Oreo Dirt:
- Separate the cream all the Oreo cookies. Save the cream for something else if you’d like! Using a food processor, pulse the cookies until you get a sand-like consistency. If you do not own a food processor, you can put the cookies in a Ziploc bag and use a rolling pin or any object to break the cookies down. Set aside!
Assembly:
- Prepare your cups, pudding, and crushed Oreo’s ready for assembly. Start with a layer of pudding and then the crushed Oreo’s, repeat until have reached the top. Make sure the top layer is the crushed Oreo’s! Decorate with your gummy worms and gravestones!
Notes
- Do not use light or reduced-fat coconut milk, you need the fat content to successfully make this recipe.
- You can also use 1 type of milk, I highly suggest something with a lot of fat, like cashew milk. It’ll give the pudding its richness and it will give the best texture.
